Dancing on the Drums
Oh the joys of dancing on the drums!! Every stroke, every hit on the snares, every roll on the toms, every attack on the cymbals, makes my heart dance and skip. But it isn't just playing and grooving on the drums, the joy comes when I play my heart out worshipping God. I've come to learn to worship God through my sticks. Many church people see me as this quiet fella and emotionless fella, and when they see me getting it on the drums, usually after church they come up to me and say" Hey, you were RAWKING just now man!!" Hehe...I have to say that I become a totally person when I really get into the music and worship.
Oh the joys of dancing on the drums!! As drummer, I have to be the one who gives the biggest groove to every song. Which in other words, I provide the groove, in other words, I need to be the most excited of all, in other words, Syok Sendiri so that others can Syok. Yup, picked that up over the years. Nothing else can describe this feeling of adrenaline rush every time just before worship starts, the pre-worship, when the worship leader gets everyone into the atmoshpere. When everyone starts shouting and celebrating, when everyone starts clapping and getting all warm-up and geared up to celebrate Jesus, the intensity, the heat, it's MAGNIFICENT!! it's a HEART-STOPPER!!
Oh the joys of dancing on the drums!! I wish I have the convenient and commitment of playing more in church. No offence to the choir there, but everytime I'm on choir, I can't take my eyes of the drums, wishing heartily that I was the one holding the sticks there not anyone else. ;) Still, I will continue to practise, I will continue to strive on, to be a better drummer, to achieve my dream, which is to be able to serve God in a rock concerts/youth rally
