Paramore!
It's been a long long while since I talked about music. I remember one post where I talked about Story of the Year, and shared with them my song of the season " Sidewalks". And it had a few people coming up to me asking me to pass them the song. Even had a few of them falling in love with the song as well. :P
..I'm so not supposed to be blogging about music now..somebody please scream at me drag me off to work!..
I did reviews on Story of the Year, Korn..lemme see..anything else..?
Ladies and gentlemen, let me present to you my reeeeally favourite band of the moment..
PARAMORE!!
They're not really new to me, but they have been a long time favourite of mine and with the release of their new album, RIOT! and a big chunk of new mtvs and live shows available on the net, it's time to proclaim my new found love for this band.
What's so special about this band that I've fallen in love with?
They bring about a new sound of rock. Not really anything like a typical punk or some screamo band..Most of their songs are depended on high energy driven rifts combined with a soft touch of added high-notes-feel which brings about a beautiful, full and rich sound. I've been trying to play lots of their songs on the guitar, and I realised that the chords they used are just so simple and yet not the typical chord progression. Making something simple sound so cool, and also their songs have a unique character of high-energy, rest, high-energy, rest..so on..Something so different!
They've totally qualified my criterias of being on my all-time-favourite list, which is:
1.) have a keng chao/super stylo/just-so-freakin' good drummer
2.) vocals which totally blow you away
3.) guitar play which can totally shred your house to pieces
4.) rock HARD live, not only the pretend-ones on their MTVS.
5.) good personality and good message in their songs
optional:
6.) really cute girl vocalist. :P
7.) strong crowd interaction
Here's a video from their newest album.
It's called " Hallelujah".
I really advise especially you people who are into music to click on it and be patient and wait for it to load and not just skip it cos it's really worth the wait. You'll know what I mean ,all those I stuff I mentioned above.
Although it's not stated anywhere, I have a feeling that they're Christians. It shows in their songs, where it talks about faith, miracles and like the above, Hallelujah. Just a hunch, so I'm not really certain about their religion.
Another thing which totally got me backing them up is their average age. Their oldest band member is 22 yrs, Jeremy the bassist. Youngest, is, holy cow, the drummer, who's only 17. Anyone remember the 'Conspiracy' song we did last year for Battle of the Bands? yea. that keng chao rolls during the verses came from this kick ass drummer, who's only 15 back then.
The singer, Haley is only 19. Yet she sings like Avril Lavigne. Her vocals is just so good, and all the local performances back here I've watched so far, by GUYS, can go stick their head in the bucket once you've watched the way SHE rocks the stage.
Oh, for the gals, you're in for a treat cos they have a cute lead guitarist. Who by the way goes by the name of Josh. Josh Farro. :p He's brothers with the drummer, Zack Farro.
( why are most drummers the *ahem* bigger sized ones?)
To truly judge a band, is to watch their live videos. Cos there's where no editing is done, no cover-up, no extras. What you see is what you get.
I've been watching countless of their live videos. and they're truly amazing. pure skills.
I feel that this accoustic clip is one of the best so far. Think they're playing live for a radio station. They're super TIGHT. Watch as their hand movements and feet tapping are so in sync.
They're upcoming at the States. Not yet really mainstream. I hope the day when our country will start airing their songs. Want to find out more? Go youtube. Or get their newest album from me.
They even did Foo Fighters' "My Hero" cover with X-men. Watch it if you're got the time~
Paramore rocks!
