The Cross

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Wondrous mystery, in the pages of history,
Of a man who bled and died for me,
Its more than a story, He’s the one who hung up on a tree,
His crimson flow poured out for me,
Gave His life to set my free

I was reminded last weekend in church, that we are worth it. Even if it was me alone, He would have done it also. Talk about investments, you think the master and creator of the heavens and earth made a wrong investment in dying for you?

This is because He believed in us.

Been talking to some people lately. Many actions and plans executed are based on statistics and logistics. The issue now of ' just do and believe' has started to become just a myth. Where has the faith gone? We might sound like idiots, doing things which sound foolish in the eyes of other people. Jesus didn't ask us to become wise-bozos to calculate the percentage of success everytime we do something for God. He just say deny ourselves, take up the cross and follow Him. Deny ourselves to the extend that we follow Him, even if people started scorning and discouraging us. You think it's stupid? You think it's stupid when Noah built the ark when people were laughing at him? You think it's stupid when little David stood againt Goliath? You think it's stupid when Jesus, died at the hands of his own creation??

Enough of trying to be so darn smart. The Pharisees thought they were. I'd rather be a fool for Jesus than being a wise cracker for others. At least, I know which 'investment' will last. For eternity. Faith comes from hearing, hearing from the word of God. Before anyone start making smart remarks about faith is just a feeling, check yourself, dude. Have you been reading the bible? Jesus took in fishermen to be his disciples. He doesn't need 'smart, inllectual' people.

Here's my call and encouragement to people out there. There are many voices out there. You hear, but you LISTEN to only one. You know who. ;) Let faith and passion rise again. You only need a mustard seed. I'd rather grope in the darkness then find Jesus, than walk in the safe 'light' and then find nothing.

If you have no one to back you up, at least, you know there's me. :)

  • You know...you are talking like another brain-washed cultist. Anyone who is not like you is not right, not good enough.

    Freaky.

I think you have a very narrow and a very rigid faith and you need to realise the difference btw blind faith and rational faith. And you tend to mix up psychology, emotions and faith.

Sue me. Condemn me but take Jesus teachings in context. Child-like faith means to question and argue everything till you are convinced - like a small child who keeps asking why.

And get your theology right. Jesus did pick intellectuals - Paul was every bit an intellectual. Just that Jesus doesn't need all of them to be the same type of people.

You will understand the need to examine your faith when you have reach a point in your faith where 'spirit and charisma and highness' is not enough anymore.

You will most probably hate me for telling you all this in-your-face. But...I am not bothered. Just keep what I told you in mind, might be useful in the future...

Now go play footie and stop writing emo posts. Has a negative contagious effect on ppl around.

  • the above comment has some truth in it, but could you have put it in a better way, say, less emo? while you say that the post was emo, your comment sound emo also.

i'm not defending or condemning anyone, but if you'd even care to leave an encouraging comment, do it as you should. be encouraging. don't be so "in your face, take it and grow".

and when you point people out to be brainwashing other people, are you brainwashing them into thinking that other people are trying to brainwash them? no offense.

your honesty is noted, and appreciated, but be less... offensive. ehh, and i'm not the blog owner. ;)

  • Just visited and read what you had to say Gim Han.

I have to say that your brainwash nonsense is really getting very irritating. When you are the one trying to brainwash others.

Talking like a smart-ass but not living the faith is pointless. You claim to be the biggest sinner, but why do it in such a proud way? Why are you so arogant about it?

Not everyone 'feels' emotions flowing through their veins every time God speaks. Sometimes, they don't feel anything, but they know it's God. And who in the world told you that is the exact interpretation of child-like faith?

You label other's as narrow and very rigid, but how do you explain yourself? You have a fixed perception of people and you do now show them grace. How narrow is that? Who are you to go around calling people idiots. If you have nothing good to say to people, don't say it.

When Jesus was on earth, He didn't pick Paul. Paul was only in the picture later on. So get your theology right.

You going around calling out brainwash and using vulgar words...doesn't that have a negative contagious effect on people?

Sometimes I wonder why you have such a self -rightoues attitude? Just becoz other's find their faith real, is that a problem to you?

Before you say you are a Christian, check yourself. Being a sinner is one thing. Wanting to stay in sin is another thing. You claim to be a Christian, but you are not even trying to live a life that's examplary. Jesus showed grace and mercy. And He didn't condemn like what you are doing here.

  • ah, and the above comment is also quite true, but is it me, or is the air filled with 'emo'-tions? Sorry this had to happen in your blog josh. >_<"

  • Errmm....in certain parts of the world, and in consistent with generally accepted ethics of free-speech, discussions and debates, it is considered polite criticize other people's comments and ideas by identifying yourself, your background and your stand before engaging in any form of discussion.

Your comments don't annoy me, seriously. I just hope that university students will have a certain level of intellectual maturity to engage with the issue and not the person. What irks me is when people want to say something to me, but don't do it outrightly or like a man, but bitch about it behind me and behind some online nick. - Joshua, looks like your blog is gona get real popular pretty soon. Hehehe...cheers.

  • Pardon my mistake of not identifying myself. I just wanted a quick comment and not have to wait for log in time. Anonymous is me.

So here, I've said what I want to.
There is a difference between voicing your thoughts and infringing on other people's views.

I'm tottally alright with you gim, and to some extent, look up to you. But sometimes you can be a real prick just voicing what you want whenever you feel like it.
