The Bass Guitar
I always feel that the music where we play, whether church or band, the bass guitar is so underused. Most of the time it's a "cheng cheng cheng" rock tune, and that's it. There's so much potential and power a bass guitar can bring into a song. So much more space and possibilities for a bass player to explore, if they are willing to make full use of their expensive bass guitars.
Playing drums for umpteenth years, the problems for drummers is that we have no control over melodies whatsover.
Flea:
" I don't think equipment really matters at all, equipment is really meaningless. The thing is if you can't really feel something with your fingers and with your heart and if you don't have anything to say with the instrument then it doesn't matter what you have. Kids that want to play music, if they can afford to buy a big expensive guitar it really means nothing because if your heart is in it and they dedicated themselves to the instrument they'll be better anytime than the lame-o with the fancy instrument.
I watch this kid play bass, and it's making me wanna take a drive to the closest music shop, purchase a bass guitar and start learning bass. hehe..
Should I?
